TIP 360
I swim, bike, run, brick and more, but never practiced a race day morning. That changed today! How about you?
Taste is something very personal. Your taste might be awfull for somebody else. So figuring out what works is important. Taking in nutrition can be hard and double as hard if the tast of what you take is not of your liking. An easy way to find out what taste you like and perhaps even more important what your stomach likes is to buy all kinds of brands and flavors.
It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as it makes you feel happy and can get to the start line with as few stress as possible.
So what does race day morning look like? It really doesn’t matter what you do as long as it makes you feel happy and can get to the start line with as few stress as possible. Having this made into a routine saves you time and possible a headache. I really hated it to get up at 4 and therefore figured out what worked best for me. First a litle snooze and then out of bed into the shower getting by body and mind kick started.
My Ironman routine is:
- 4.00 – hit the snooze button
- 4.09 – out of bed to the shower
- 4.15 – out of the shower and doing a small first breakfast
- 4.30 – making my energy drinks
- 4.45 – sunscreen part 1
- 5.00 – getting dressed for the race (suit, chip and extra clothing)
- 5.15 – light second breakfast
- 5.30 – off to the start
- 6.00 – Getting the bike ready (bottles, tires, shoes, computer)
- 6.10 – last check of transit (routes and bags)
- 6.20 – sunscreen part 2
- 6.30 – putting on the wetsuit
- 6.40 – small warm up swim
- 6.50 – ready to rock
- 7.00 – let’s go!
